Each year, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana honors people in the community who are committed to serving the people of Louisiana. This year, Blue Cross and Blue Shield presented their annual Angel Award to nine outstanding nominees, including our long-time supporter Kellie Duhon. She received the Blue Angel Award, as Blue Cross and Blue Shield's Corporate Giving Program Manager.
Kellie is a long-time friend, volunteer, and board member for The Life of a Single Mom. She has served as one of our ministry's board members since 2016, and continues to impact single moms and their children through her dedication and service. "In Kellie and I's first meeting, we both cried. That's when I knew that we were destined to work together for years to come," says Jennifer Maggio, Chief Executive Officer of The Life of a Single Mom and 2014 Recipient of Blue Cross and Blue Shield's Angel Award. "Kellie is authentic, hard-working, and committed. She is a connector who has served diligently in sharing the vision of the organization with those who will listen. The Life of a Single Mom is a national, faith-based, nonprofit that exists to see that no single mom walks alone. To date, the organization has worked with hundreds of churches to start a single mom’s support group in cities throughout the U.S. and beyond, as well as having served hundreds of thousands of single mothers with a variety of programs.
