Help For Single Moms: Jennifer Barnes Maggio Of ‘The Life Of A Single Mom Ministries’ Offers Resources

Maggio, recently featured in a New York Times article, believes that connecting single mothers with church support groups can be the catalyst to helping single moms realize their life goals and start down the path to a much brighter future

“Single moms,” Maggio stated, “don’t need someone else pointing a finger at them. They need hope, help, and encouragement. They want connection and friendship with other moms who have been there and understand the journey.”

The Life of a Single Mom Ministries is a nonprofit organization committed to connecting every single mother to a support group in a local church. The group focuses on training churches and communities on how to meet the needs of single moms through effective support groups that offer education on a variety of relevant topics, networking opportunities, and encouragement. They offer an innovative training kit for both new and existing single mother programs, consultations, conferences, books, study materials and event speakers. Additionally, they provide single parents with resources for financial education, parental effectiveness, and overall emotional health.

Jennifer Barnes Maggio is a prolific writer and has authored a number of titles for both single moms and churches. These include ‘Peace and the Single Mom: 50 Moments of Calm in the Chaos’, ‘Kids and the Single Mom: A Real World Guide to Effective Parenting’, ‘The Church and the Single Mom’, and ‘Overwhelmed: The Life of a Single Mom’.

“Our God,” Maggio continued is much bigger than any statistic written on a sheet of paper. The power of God changes lives, offers freedom, and erases pasts. Two out of three single moms aren’t attending church. As the body of Christ, this should move us to action.”

The Life of a Single Mom Ministries has helped over 20,000 families connect to a local support group and has served more than 1,200 churches and nonprofits in 19 countries to better equip single parents in their communities to live successful lives. The group has won a number of high profile awards including:

Named 2012 #1 Single Parent Website by The Examiner
