Taylor Swift has selected The Life of a Single Mom as a recipient of a generous flood relief donation for recovery from the “Great Louisiana Flood of 2016.” Single moms impacted by the August flood can now apply to receive a brand new refrigerator filled with groceries, a slow cooker, a cookbook and a gift card for fruit and vegetables to assist with recovery efforts.
Our hearts are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for single moms. We are grateful to Taylor Swift for reaching out to help us ensure that no single mom walks alone during this very difficult time. The devastation across southeast Louisiana has been unbelievable. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve more single moms with this gift. The generous donation is part of a $1 million gift that Taylor Swift has pledged for Louisiana flood recovery efforts.
Southeast Louisiana was pelted with torrential rainfall that led to unprecedented flooding throughout the region, beginning in early August 2016. The unnamed storm has left $8.7 billion in damage according to early estimates released by the State of Louisiana, and the numbers are expected to rise.
