The devil wants you to function in a world of mistaken identity of who you are. Often when our thoughts have nowhere else to go, except to bounce around our heads, we can get disoriented. You may find yourselves succumbing to wrong thinking. It can happen to the best of us mothers. The thing is we don’t want to cancel every thought, necessarily, because they could be coming from a place that needs our attention. Along with constant scanning for threats, we are designed to use negative information far more than positive information to inform our life. Survival depends more on recognizing danger than enjoying the warmth of a hug from one of our children.
Negative thoughts can be more powerful in our brain processing system than positive ones. In fact, researchers say that we require more positive messages (at least five) for every negative one to keep things on an uplifting movement. The key is to reset the negative thoughts. Don’t be afraid to challenge them.
Mommas here are 3-steps that can help you challenge your mind and feel more relaxed, even during turbulent times:
#1 // Reset negative thoughts with positive ones.
Show yourself compassion. Visualize the mama-bear roar you'd let out if someone was attempting to do harm to one of your children. Use that same type of loud roar when you begin to have negative thoughts. Tell yourself, “I don’t have time for you and go away.” Don’t be afraid to say it out loud. You may find yourself saying it multiple times a day and that is normal. The key is stop it dead in its track. Negative thoughts hate to be interrupted. Remember some thoughts are not necessarily bad, like it is OK to want a break from your child or look forward to their bedtime or miss your old life. It doesn't mean you love them any less.
Researchers have found that your mind can have a powerful effect on your body. Building your mindset is like increasing your immunity where your thoughts and attitudes can have a particularly powerful influence. Positive thinking impacts your ability to cope with stress which can impact your health. You can experience less depression with a stronger mindset and increased resilience. Resilience refers to our ability to cope with problems. Resilient people can face a crisis or trauma with strength and resolve. Rather than falling apart in the face of such stress, they can carry on and eventually overcome such adversity. You can reset your mind.
#2 // RESET WHAT I THINK ABOUT ME TO WHAT GOD THINKS ABOUT ME.
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what does God think about me? Psalms 139:14 reminds us that “we are fearfully and wonderfully made.” John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.” Mommas you have WORTH. You can be sure that God sees you as HIS child. When you remember that you are accepted, loved, forgiven, and uniquely made by our wonderful Creator of the universe, you will be better equipped to show that love to others and build deeper relationship.
Seek God through His Word daily. Communicate with Him in prayer daily. Seek out the quiet moments and get to know Him daily. There is nothing better than being God’s child. We experience the deep, deep, overwhelming unconditional love of God. When you saturate yourself in His truth, His presence and His Word, the lies of you not being worthy will go away.
#3 // RESET DOUBT WITH BELIEF.
Believing in yourself is critical to creating the life you desire. Work on changing your perspective and conquer limiting beliefs. This can be accomplished through building a meditation time into your routine. Feed your mind through reading books. Protect what you allow your mind to take in daily. You can read inspirational quotes then jot them down so you can post them in your surroundings. Take the time to learn about new topics that will help you reach your goals, like finance, or something that will help you face your fears.
Next you will need to visualize the goal. Think about exactly what your life would look like if you had already achieved your dream. Actually, stop and feel your dreams. Then, act as if you have already achieved the goal. This one step trains your mind to open to what your hearts desires and you will notice things will shift in your life. Remember that shifting is a process that does not happen overnight, but if you continue to do the work for change, things will begin to align for you.
Mommas, no matter what has happened to you, you will never lose your VALUE. You are priceless. Now walk in your greatness.
