Jennifer Maggio is the founder of The Life of a Single Mom. She is an author/speaker and international single parent advocate. As a former single mom, she has written several single parenting books and has been featured in several hundred media venues as a national single parenting expert. She has more than a decade of corporate leadership experience, including her position as the assistant Vice President of HSBC Bank overseeing more than $55mm in accounts. She attended Copiah Lincoln College maintaining 4.0 GPA. She is an 11-time Circle of Excellence Award Recipient and was named a 2017 Top 10 Most Influential Leader in America by Dr. John Maxwell. Jennifer serves as the Chief Executive Officer and manages the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Lizzie James is current Programs Manager and Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. She graduated from Delta College in January 2013, where she specialized in women’s health and obtained her LPN license. She also earned Certification in Leadership from Elevate School of Ministry in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she was honored with the Most Faithful Award. She has been a single mom for 12 years. She is considered a national expert in single parent support group training and travels the nation providing best practices for communities to start and manage single mom support groups and programming. She has worked for more than a decade in single parent centric volunteerism.
Tiffany Temple joined The Life of a Single Mom as a volunteer in 2011. She now oversees Business & Community Relations. She brings over 15 years of nonprofit experience to the TLSM Team. She also brings almost two decades of single parenting experience. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She has completed advanced coursework in counseling, psychology, and people management. Her professional experience includes volunteer-driven program management, community outreach, and government relations. She is an active volunteer in the Baton Rouge community whose big smile is second only to her even bigger personality.
Brittany Sykes is current Funds Development Manager, responsible for the procurement of funding to sustain the organization. She is a former single mother who is passionate about addressing issues that pertain to underserved single mothers. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she obtained a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in psychology and gender studies. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree from Louisiana State University in nonprofit administration with a concentration in development. She brings 13 years of nonprofit volunteerism and employment to our team. Her previous employment experience includes recruiting, human capital manager, site manager, and program management.
Kedra Deggins is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and a minor in Visual Arts. She went on to pursue her second Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Louisiana State University and graduated in May 2017. Kedra remained in the top 7.5% of her classes at both ULL and LSU. She began working with The Life of a Single Mom through a class project with LSU, where her primary goal was to develop ways to continue the growth of TLSM through appropriate branding and strategy. Building on the work done for the project, paired with her background in advertising, she has continued to bring creativity, world class graphic design, and management of social media, website, and print branding to the team.
Natalie Vining is a Community Resource Developer with The Life of a Single Mom. Her duties include grant research and writing, as well as project management of Single Mom University. She brings more than a decade of single parenting experience to the TLSM staff. Natalie graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University where she majored in General Studies and secured her Bachelor of Arts. She was also a Division I college athlete. Her previous work experience includes focus in early learning & childhood development, admissions & operations, and schedule coordination. She began volunteerism with a focus on single mother’s issues in early 2016. She has also focused on personal training & physical fitness, since 2011 and possesses a passion to ensure single mothers are “whole”, healing from past trauma and becoming successful in all areas.
Jeanie Pizzalato is the Accounting Manager for The Life of a Single Mom. She processes payroll, data retention, accounts payable & receivable, and front-end reception duties. A single mother of two children, Jeanie understands the challenges a single mother faces. She joined the TLSM team as a volunteer in 2014, prior to full-time employment. Prior work experience includes extensive knowledge of Quickbooks, payroll processing, multi-line phone system, data entry, customer service, and retail management. During her time on the team, she has been an integral part of the planning and implementation of the annual fundraiser and national single mother’s conference.
