The Life of a Single Mom Names 2017 Board of Directors
On November 1, 2016, The Life of a Single Mom held its quarterly board meeting to vote on the 2017 Board of Directors’ Executive Committee. Completion of onboarding for several new board members also took place.
Eunice McCarney has accepted the position of Board President for the 2017 calendar year. Previously the Board’s Vice President and Treasurer, Eunice brings a wealth of expertise. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive and brings more than seven years of results-driven philanthropy experience to the team. She is owner of 3T Strategies, a nonprofit consulting firms. She also has a BA in Political Science from Louisiana State University and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Going the Extra Mile Award issued by Junior League of Baton Rouge and a nomination to the Louisiana Board of Ethics, among others.
“Eunice was raised by a single mother. She understands the challenges they face. She also has a heart for the community and has a proven track record of success in fundraising and strategy development. I’m pleased with the Board’s choice,” said Jennifer Maggio, Chief Executive Officer of The Life of a Single Mom.
Eunice is joined on the Executive Committee by newly-elected Vice President Michelle Cooley Petersen, Regional State Manager for Security Title, Treasurer Debbie Spano, co-owner of C&C Millworks, and Secretary, Kelli Vincent Jones of Louisiana State University.
Additional board members include: Kellie Duhon, Jennifer Hardin, Julie Finical, and Dr. Pam Beadle.
Alana Fernandez was recognized for completion of four years of service on the Board of Directors, serving most recently as 2016 Board President. Alana is the mother of two children, wife to Keith, and an attorney employed with Louisiana State University’s Ag Center. Sara Exner Whittaker was also recognized for two years of board service, serving most recently as 2016 Board Secretary.

The Life of a Single Mom is a national nonprofit, headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that exists to see no single mom walk alone by providing programming that establishes single mom support groups and focuses on education in critical areas, such as parenting, finances, and health and wellness.
