When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to get well?”

John 5:6 TPT

Do you know a single mother who is struggling and could use your support?

Did you know that about 4 out of 10 children are born to unwed mothers? Nearly two-thirds were born to mothers under the age of 30. Today 1 in 5 children under the age of 18 – a total of about 14 million – are being raised without a father. And according to the U.S. Census Bureau, out of about 10 million single parent families with children under the age of 18, more than 70 percent were headed by single mothers.

These statistics should be both alarming and compelling for all young women to know about.

The report also states that [2]single mothers are much more likely to be poorer than married couples. The increased incarceration, school drop-out, and runaway rates for children being raised in single parent homes skyrocket through the roof. Not to mention the many statistics surrounding depression and mental health concerns that impact not only the mother, but her children as well.

The statistics are staggering, but I can promise you this – I know that no young woman has a dream to become a single mother when she grows up. In this season of your life, you may feel a depth of pain you never knew existed before. You may even be in the middle of experiencing agonizing loneliness that will test you to your core. Yet, you have a choice to make. Will you stay stuck? Or will you push yourself to grow - not just for you, but for your children as well. When you make the choice to keep going, you are able to step into all that God has for you.

The Bible says;

"And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose."

Romans 8:28 AMP

How could it be God’s plan for any woman to become a single mother? How could this ever turn into something good?

Every single mom has a different backstory that has brought her to single parenting. Maybe it’s an unwanted divorce, abandonment from someone they have deeply loved, a past childhood trauma, abuse...the list goes on and on.

But I am here to encourage you today that Jesus is bidding you to come to Him. If only you could hear Him asking these questions:

  • Dear daughter, do you want to become someone new?
  • Do you want to get better?
  • Do you want to stop responding the way you do when you get hurt?

Has your life has been spiraling out of control for a long time? You recognize that you need His help, but didn't know how to fully let Him in? Know that He sees you right where you are.  Although you feel broken, Jesus calls you His. Being a single mama is not your identity. You are a daughter of the Most High King. Receive His love today, so that He can fully heal your heart.

Trust me, I understand what you are facing. I can relate. I really can. I was a single mom, not once, but twice.

As a 39 year old single mother to 5 sons, I thought God had abandoned me. Beyond that, I thought life was unfair, and that my future was destined for continued failure with regards to any future relationship. But God! Oh but, God! He continued to bid me to come to Him year after year until I finally collapsed at His feet, and surrendered everything I was holding onto.

With the help of my trusted counselor, my church community, and over a good amount of time, I was finally ready to look inward at my past traumas for the first time. Wouldn’t you know it - instead of feeling any guilt or shame about the poor choices I made which contributed to how my life had gotten to where it was, I only felt the love of God and an overwhelming desire to live free in the future.

Psalms 37:4 PTP says,

“Delight yourself in the Lord,And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.”

Single mama, did you know that your inner healing is paramount to your future success as God’s daughter? And He has so much good in store for you if you will just give him control. God has placed dreams inside of you that are meant for you to dream. And He has a future in store for you that is better then you could imagine, but first you must answer His bidding call.

Guided Question: What is your greatest fear about admitting that you need help?

Guided Prayer:  Lord Jesus, I need you. I can’t do this life without you. Thank you for dying on the cross for me, and saving me from my sins. I ask you to come into my heart and heal me from my past mistakes. Please help me to give you my heart. Help me to give you control. I want to be whole. I want to let you love me. In Jesus Name – Amen.
