The Life of a Single Mom Receives a $5,000 Grant from Truist Foundation

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, October, 27, 2020 – The Life of a Single Mom is proud to announce it received a $5,000 grant from Truist Foundation to provide 25 single mothers access to 112 Single Mom University classes.

With the acceptance of this grant, it is our objective to:

• Provide opportunities for 25 single moms to obtain online education in regards to finances, parenting, and health and wellness to improve overall life function.
• Provide easy-to-use education tools that remove barriers to economic stability and parenting success for single mothers.
• Provide online certificate of courses completed to enhance opportunities for continuing education and employment opportunities for single moms who are striving to thrive.

Single Mom University (SMU) is an online, self-paced classroom that supports and promotes the empowerment of single moms through online life skills education in 4 core areas: Parenting, Finances, Health & Wellness, and Leadership. It is designed to teach financial security, positive parenting habits, career preparedness, self-care, community leadership, and health & wellness components. SMU addresses the “whole” single mom and was developed in recognition that as technology evolves, programming must evolve to meet the needs of the busy clients we serve.

The Life of a Single Mom is a national, faith-based, nonprofit that exists to see that no single mom walks alone. To date, we have worked with more than 1,500 churches & community groups to start or improve a single mom’s support group in cities throughout the U.S. and beyond.
