What Do I Need to Know About the Single Mom’s Conference:
How do you define “single” mom? The Life of a Single Mom Ministries defines single mothers as divorced, separated, never married, military wives, widows, moms with incarcerated or incapacitated spouses, foster moms, or any mom who feels like she is doing it alone is encouraged to be a part of the National TLSM Single Moms conference.
Can you tell me about the conference venue and location? The conference will be held in Louisiana’s state capital, Baton Rouge, at Healing Place Church at 19202 Highland Road. Healing Place is one of the largest churches in the south with a beautiful arena, a lake with walking track, and plenty of parking. Their generosity to single moms has been a long-standing relationship with The Life of a Single Mom, and we are excited to partner with them!
How is the conference designed? Friday night will kick off at 7pm with praise and worship music from the Healing Place Worship Band followed by a keynote speaker and plenty of surprises. On Saturday, your day will start at 8:30am, where you will enjoy a light breakfast, a keynote message, and your choice of a variety of single-mom breakout sessions covering a range of topics designed with you in mind. Lunch will also be provided and the conference will end at approximately 2pm local time. There will also be a career opportunities for those looking for jobs and local & national vendor booths with tons of free information for single moms! There will be a Cajun After-party on Friday night and tons of surprises on Saturday.
Are there group discounts? How can I register a group? Because our ministry worked very hard to keep the price as low as possible for single moms, we are not able to offer a group discount for groups under 25. However, if a group has 26 or more registrants, please contact our office directly for discounts at (225)341-8055 or firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are a church wanting to register any size group, please contact our office, as referenced above, and we can help you process your transaction seamlessly.
Is the conference ONLY for single moms, or can my mom, girlfriend, co-worker, or family member attend with me? Many women attend in support of a friend or family member. Single Moms Ministry Leaders or those hoping to launch a single moms support group are more than welcome. In fact, we beg you to come be inspired! It’s a great way to show your support for single moms and learn new ways to minister to them. There will be breakout sessions that address topics that are relevant to all women.
When is the deadline to register for this event? There is no registration deadline for this event. However, we do fully expect that this conference will sell out, so we recommend registration as soon as possible.
I lead a Single Moms Support Group in my church. Will there be training? Yes, The Life of a Single Mom’s goal is to equip single mom ministry leaders with effective tools to minister to single moms in their church and community. We work with more than 1,500 churches globally to ensure pastors and leaders are equipped in the ministry. We’ll have ministry time just for you!
Can my children attend? Free childcare is provided for children ages 6 weeks through 11 years old. Registration is required and no children will be allowed in the main sessions. We do recommend that if you have alternative childcare you take advantage of that, so we can accommodate as many precious single moms as possible.
Are single dads invited, too? We recognize that single dads who are raising children alone need encouragement and resources, too, which is why The Life of a Single Mom has partnered with a number of agencies and events nationally. However, our June 2015 event will be a ladies-only conference.
What can I do once the conference ends? Baton Rouge is Louisiana’s state capital and we have plenty to do! Visit our Baton Rouge Tourist Page HERE. Also, New Orleans is just a short hour’s drive and it, too, offers a great day of fun. Visit New Orleans Tourist Page HERE.
