Have you ever felt like you don't have enough?
Not enough money? Not enough support? Not a big enough house? Not a good enough job? Instead of leaning on God’s word, and putting your faith in Him, you become tempted to throw in the towel, just like the widow in 1 Kings 17:12:
“But she said, “I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.” (1 Kings 17:12 NLT)
You start gathering your sticks and packing up your marbles. When the widow reached hopelessness, she relied on her own strength - which we know, all too well, is failing. Mom, if you find yourself gathering sticks, I want you to know that even the darkest moments hold the potential for personal growth and the fulfillment of your deepest desires through the strength that Christ provides. Scripture continues stating the widow shared what little she had with someone else and she witnessed God pour out His blessings so much that she couldn't contain it. Her jars were filled with flour and oil for the rest of her days. The lesson? She was faithful. She leaned on and trusted her Heavenly Father. When you are faithful, understanding who you are in Christ, you are able to walk in a strength and boldness that is hard to explain. Today, I want to share 3 keys to help you unlock the strength you have in Christ.
Key #1: Acknowledge Who You Are.
Self-esteem from a biblical perspective refers to how you perceive yourself in light of your relationship with God and your understanding of His love and purpose for your life. I recently shared my self-esteem journey. I love my life now, and it's a stark contrast to how I used to feel. I have the power to choose how I present myself, who I surround myself with, and what information I share. I no longer feel lonely, anxious, or like I'm missing out. But it all starts with a journey of truly understanding who I am in Christ alone, and choosing to walk in the gifts He has given me. I am now walking in my purpose and fulfilling my calling in God's perfect will. It hasn't always been this way. There were times when I struggled. I hated myself and felt like I was a constant disappointment. I felt rejected and disconnected from God. I battled demons and shed many tears. But I held onto my faith and made a conscious effort to shape my attitudes and actions around the truth in God’s word. You too have the ability to walk in the life that God desires you to have. It requires intentional choices and a deliberate approach to stay in alignment with Him.
Need encouragement in your hard season? Leave your worries at the feet of Jesus.
Oh, how our weary souls need solace, peace, and true rest. The weight of the world is often seemingly resting on our shoulders. The burdens of financial pressures, parenting woes, unreasonable supervisors, gossiping neighbors, troubled marriages, and health concerns can be overwhelming. Mom, if that is you, it's time to lay your burdens down at Jesus' feet. But how do you do that? Start by checking out the article below.
Key #2: Know Your Worth.
Embracing your worth in Christ involves recognizing and accepting your inherent value as a single mom. It means understanding that your worth is not defined by your relationship status or circumstances, but by God's love and purpose for your life. By embracing worthiness, you can let go of self-doubt, guilt, and comparison, and instead, cultivate a sense of self-acceptance, confidence, and purpose as you navigate your journey as a single mom. Remember that you are uniquely valuable and deserving of love, grace, and respect, and your worth is rooted in your identity as a beloved child of God.
Key #3: Stand in Confidence.
Lastly, cultivating confidence as a single mom involves recognizing your strengths, setting achievable goals, stepping out of your comfort zone, surrounding yourself with positivity, challenging negative self-talk and replacing it with the truth found in God’s word, learning and improving, and celebrating small victories. It's a journey that requires patience, self-compassion, and belief in your worth. By taking these steps, you can nurture your confidence and navigate the challenges of single motherhood with resilience and self-assurance.
As single moms, we have the ability to lead fulfilling lives while staying faithful to Christ. By embracing these principles, we can navigate our journey with resilience, purpose, and self-assurance. In those moments when you feel low, lean on this word:
"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
