TLSM Works to Make an Impact in the Lives of Single Moms Across the Nation. Here’s How:
During the recent weeks of the COVID-19 Crisis that has impacted our state and country, The Life of a Single Mom has acted swiftly to ensure single mothers’ needs were addressed in a variety of ways. We are grateful for the support of our donor community for assisting in COVID relief, including Capital Area United Way, Stand Together Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, ExxonMobil, Union Home Mortgage Foundation, and many anonymous and personal donors. We wanted to convey to you some of the things we have been undertaking to address the financial, emotional, and parental challenges our single mothers have faced during this time.
- Distribution of $500 emergency cash vouchers to 150 qualifying single mother families totaling $75,000 in immediate relief
- Distribution of 50 cases of diapers and 200 restaurant gift cards to meet emergency needs
- Crisis case management services to assist in procuring resource information, counseling referrals, and emergency job placement to 108 single mothers
- Free access to Single Mom University providing 100 life skills classes to single mothers to assist in coping with current life challenges
- Hosted 8-Week Support Group Study to combat isolation among vulnerable single mom population for 325 mothers
- Free eBooks, articles, videos, and podcasts to promote education and growth, downloaded by 9,900+
- Trained 126 single mom support group leaders nationally on effective online single mom support group implementation
- Healthy food distribution including 25-lb boxes of produce and $75 Walmart gift cards to promote healthy eating to 300 single mom families
These efforts could not have been possible without you. The demand for our services has increased 300% over the last 60 days and our donor community has been critical in supporting the challenges single mothers face. The Life of a Single Mom is a national, faith-based, nonprofit that exists to see that no single mom walks alone. To date, the organization has worked with hundreds of churches to start a single mom’s support group in cities throughout the U.S. and beyond, as well as having served hundreds of thousands of single mothers with a variety of programs.
